Lily's poem

An ancient, abandoned house, stood in the forest green,
Saddened by its emptiness in silence and demean.
It waited for someone to come and fill its empty heart,
By walking through the corridors and never again depart.
This lonely little rugged place,
Which now is full of empty space.
Once filled with children’s laughter,
Was doomed to loneliness thereafter.

One by one the critters came from the woods so near,
To the run down abandoned home, its aching sorrows to cheer.
The birds swooped in among the rafters to nest among the cracks,
The foxes and the rabbits filled the hall with tracks.
This joyful little rugged place,
Where forest critters fill its space,
Now filled with squirrel’s laughter,
Was left in happiness thereafter.
