Trip to the East Coast

We started our excursion to the East Coast with a stop near Washington D.C. to visit friends and see the sights.  Mini-golf was first on the list, along with a ride on a miniature train, swimming in a big pool, seeing fireflies while roasting hot dogs and marshmallows, and ice cream at Friendly's.
We started our walk through D.C. by visiting the Arlington National Cemetery.  There were also "Fletchers" buried there.
Tomb of the Unknown Soldier where we watched the Changing of the Guard on the hottest day of the year.  We felt for the soldiers as we dripped!
 Lincoln Memorial

 Washington Mall
 White House
 Jefferson Memorial
 Washington Monument
 Capitol Building--we had a tour

 We watched the Twilight Tattoo.

The kids and I went to Mount Vernon.

The view Washington had of the Potomac River...so beautiful.

The gardens were so lovely...and that's the greenhouse in the background.
Off to New Jersey, and blueberry picking.  Yummy!
After helping out at Grandpa's, we went swimming in the warm lake and jumped off the dock.

Beach time...we enjoyed sunny (and some rainy) days relaxing, swimming, running, digging, body boarding, surfing, and time together

Fun to see Uncle Steve and Aunt Cathy
